ENTRY REGULATIONS FOR TRAVEL BY AIR AND SEA TO AND FROM THE US AND BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS**

When US citizens arrive in St. Thomas by air, there are still no special entry requirements. However, 99.9% all charters include a visit to the British Virgin Islands which is essentially a foreign country.

For details on entering the British Virgin Islands at this time, please visit HERE. If you have joined your charter yacht in the USVI, your captain will be the one to bring all documents in to the port of entry in the BVI. There is no need for the charter guests to go in for this purpose.

There are 4 locations for check-in:

Road Harbour, Tortola
West End Harbour, Tortola
Great Harbour, Jost Van Dyke
St. Thomas Bay, Virgin Gorda

Your Skipper will help determine the best one for your itinerary based on weather and length of your charter term all with an eye to what it is you’d like to do for your time aboard.

US Check-in: After spending a lovely time visiting this nearby archipelago of jewel-like islands, all US travelers will ultimately be returning to US soil.

When re-entering, that is when you must comply with current entry regulations as outlined by the Department of Homeland Security and the US Department of State. These regulations are still a bit “grey” as to when all US citizens must have a US Passport. It does seem that “sometime in the summer of 2008”, all travelers must possess a passport for re-entry. Regardless of regulations pending, Slip Aweigh Charters recommends that all persons arriving for charter procure a Passport to ease the check-in process on both sides of the channel.
